Two Of These Actors Are Reportedly In The Running For Amazon’s God Of War Series
Amazon’s live-action God of War series is reportedly set to begin filming early next year, which means that the studio needs to find its Kratos.
According to John Campea, who reported before it was officially announced that Keanu Reeves would be playing Shadow in Sonic 2, he knows two actors who are currently in the running. The catch? He buried them in a list of fan casts and personal picks.
Christopher Judge, Triple H, Winston Duke, Dave Bautista: Here Are Some Of The Actors Who Could Be In The Running For Kratos
The list is as follows:
- Christopher Judge
- Jason Momoa
- Dave Bautista
- Winston Duke
- Joe Manganiello
- Triple H
- Manu Bennet
- Olivier Ritchers
- Travis Fimmel
-
Henry Cavill
Campea admitted towards the end of the video that Cavill was one of his picks, so we can rule him out and narrow the list down to nine possible candidates.
Christopher Judge might be offered to read for the role as a courtesy, but video game adaptations rarely feature the same actors in the lead, so this seems unlikely. Campea isn’t fond of the idea, either, so it’s probably a fan cast.
Jason Momoa, Dave Bautista, Triple H, and Winston Duke have long been popular picks, likely striking them from the list as well. They might all have the build to play Kratos, but that tends to be something that fan casts emphasise.
That leaves us with Manu Bennet, Travis Fimmel, and Olivier Ritchers as potential candidates. While Richters is a big God of War fan, even cosplaying Kratos, he’s likely wrapped up playing Zangief in Street Fighter, and is, in my opinion, more likely to be one of Campea’s personal picks.
Travis Fimmel, playing the lead in Vikings as Ragnar Lothbrok, has a history with Amazon, and Manu Bennet is a left-field, but inspired choice, making him less likely to be a fan cast. So, if I had to stake my bet on any of the two names here, it’d be them.
But that’s only my personal speculation. We have nine names, two of which are rumoured to be in the running for Kratos, and it could feasibly be any of them.
